British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information from the public after two men made “vile” threats to a member of rail staff on board a train near Port Talbot.
Extensive enquiries made by the authorities have seen officers isolate CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, and they are now calling on the public to assist.
The incident took place just after 5am on Thursday, 13 August. CCTV images of the two men involved in connection to the incident have now been released by officers. Both men are suspected to have got off the train at Port Talbot but later caught a train to Bridgend.
PC Paul Stephens, who is investigating the incident, said: “The train manager on the 0458 Swansea to London Paddington service was checking tickets when two passengers began antagonising him for no apparent reason.” He added: “Their verbal abuse quickly escalated into more aggressive behaviour, culminating in both men threatening the victim with violence and making what were, quite frankly, vile remarks about his family.”
The BTP have confirmed they continue to hold a tough stance over such incidents, saying members of staff should be able to come to work without fear of violence or abuse.
